Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.

The build up towards the Flood was a spectacular event by itself. As stated in scripture, Noah was 600 years old. 100 years had passed after he he sired his sons. The ark hosted him, his wife, his sons and his sons’ wives. However, something supernatural happened in the days preceding the Flood. Verse 9 talks of the animals, which God had ordained to enter the ark, ‘came to’ Noah and he led them into the ark. In this same era of sin, when men had forsaken God, animals could hear and hearken to the voice of God. This scripture reminds me of Romans 1 and 2 which says that the creation is awaiting with eagre expectation for the revelation of the sons of God. In an age if sin, Noah stood up and was counted. Even the creation was led to Him because he had been found faithful.
