By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry. Then God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”

Noah observed that the land was dry on the 1st day of the 1st month during his 601st birthday. The flood ensued when Noah was 600 years. The heavens and the earth opened up with destructive waters for 40 days and nights. However, the effects of the flood on the earth were felt for about a year later when Noah was 601 years old. After the earth fully dried, God instructed Noah, his family and the animals to disembark from the ark. From the time God had instructed Noah to enter the ark, this was the next time He was speaking to him…instructing him to leave the ark. There is something unique when God issues instructions to us…He always ensures that He guides us through them. He instructed Noah when to go into the ark, how long the rain would take and even when to leave the ark. As Noah, his family and the animals left the ark, God instructed the animals to be fruitful and multiply.
