But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer is more than just the words that are said…its about the posture we take as we pray. Prayer could be a public affair but what makes it distinct is it’s privateness which enables us to commune with God at a personal level. The motive of prayer shouldn’t be to be seen by men but for God to see and respond to our cry. Fellowship with God at a private place needs an intimate connection with Him. It requires total commitment to Him. There’s something about the privacy of prayer that makes it so potent yet again so subtle. Prayer consistently done in privacy matched with a commitment to walk the talk does wonders in this world. Christ most of the time retreated to hidden places to pray…far from His disciples. But the fruits of His prayer were evident in the ministry He nurtured and carried out. God who saw in secret rewarded Him before others…openly. Fervent prayer wields it’s power when it comes from a sincere heart seeking God. A heart not desiring the approval of men but a connection with God. Such a man would love his privacy with God. He would love his quiet time. As he consistently practices this discipline, and matches it with acts of obedience, God lifts him in amazing ways. Prayer works.
