Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

ASTOUNDING COSMIC EVENTS

Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night. And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
Revelation 8:12‭-‬13 NKJV

It’s possible that the trumpet blasts were unveiling a chain of events that seemed to be related. The fourth angel’s trumpet brought about a dramatic cosmic event. A third of the sun, stars and moon were obscured. A third of the day lay in darkness possibly alluding to the after effects of a monumental conflict using weapons of mass destruction. A look into the history of the usage of the atomic bomb would give us a sneak preview of what’s at stake here. When Hiroshima and Nagasaki were hit by atomic bombs, smoke plumes mushroomed hundreds of metres above the ground. The air was obscured, visibility was low. This happened for a couple of hours. Now picture a hundred or more Hiroshimas and the we get the picture. Smoke, debris, dust and particulates would fill the air and circulate around the world for weeks if not months. This is no new event. Perhaps what comes closest to it in recent history is a volcanic eruption in 1991. Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines unleashed a powerful climactic eruption releasing debris and ash tens of kilometres into the atmosphere. This ash circulated in the atmosphere for months altering weather patterns in far away lands. A nuclear war would unleash such a kind of climactic power and bring suffering. A cosmic accident such as a meteor collision would also. But what’s astounding is the worst will still be yet to come. After these happenings, an angel appeared in the skies alerting the inhabitants of the earth about the three last trumpets. Woe… Woe… Woe… He shouted. One woe per trumpet. What would come to pass would surely astound many.
