A pregnant silence gripped heaven. About half and hour. Seven angels appeared with trumpets ready to sound them as symbols of judgement on earth. But before they did, one angel appeared with a golden censor and stood at the altar. His censor was filled with incense which relates to the prayers of the saints. The times you and I take to pray are not in vain. There is a store for our prayers. God preserves them for the right moment. He offered this incense as a pleasant offering before God. Smoke went before Him the same way the smoke of incense pleased God in the times of Aaron and his sons, the priests. Our prayers please God. They are pleasant before Him. We might travail and struggle as we offer them during times of difficulty but they are a sweet smelling aroma before Him. But that’s not the case with people who defy God. The prayers of the saints especially during these times of the tribulation will hasten God’s judgement upon the inhabitants of earth. The angel holding the censor containing the incense that is prayers hurled them towards earth and there was rumbling, lightning and thunder…an awesome tumult that shook the earth. Remember those saints who were killed for their faith calling upon God to answer their prayers and avenge their blood, well this is that very instant. But the incense hurled on earth would symbolise the start of a very difficult period of time on earth. The seven angels awaited to blow their trumpets and harsh situations would follow. Situations resulting from man’s sin. Sin will turn against men and punish them severely. Remember that these events will be taking place in heaven. However, they would influence the physical happenings on earth even though man would be at the centre stage. The things of the spirit dictate events in the physical.
