Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

The devil is a master of counterfeit. His strategy is to try and replicate what God is doing. God exists in a triune nature: God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. Isn’t it stunning that the devil seeks to replicate this divine arrangement? The emergence of the beast from the earth leaves us with no doubt in this regard. The dragon represents the devil who transfered his powers to the devil incarnate, the beast from the sea (antichrist) who administered over the affairs of the earth through the beast from the earth also known as the false prophet. This way, the devil was trying to replicate the way God the Father granted authority to His Son Christ who became God incarnate Who left us with His Spirit to guide us into every day victorious living. The beast from the earth will most likely be a Jew born and raised in Israel. But he’ll have a mandate to enforce the worship of the beast from the sea and his image failure to which all who don’t would not be able to buy or sell. He’ll have a unique hallmark of deception : two horns like a lamb. His strategy will be to deceive as many to follow the antichrist. In fact, he’ll institute the placing of a mark on the hands or foreheads of the peoples of the world as a sign of their allegiance to the beast from the sea. The mark of the beast will not be put on anyone’s body without their knowledge. People will consent to it because of their allegiance to the beast or the antichrist. Remember that the false prophet might not have sentries all around ensuring that people worship the beast from the sea. Instead, the mark will ensure compliance because the lack of it would deprive many of the basic necessities of life. Man’s ingenuity and education in the fields of computer science and mathematics will drive this agenda. Today, we are seeing the emergence of a unique field of computer science, artificial intelligence or AI. AI emphasizes on the empowerment of machines through a process called machine learning enabling them to take decisions that are human in nature. Whereas such systems create convenience for us today, they’ll be used to serve the purpose of the beast by ensuring worldwide compliance. You ask how? Well today, Silicon Valley conglomerates like Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter have a global footprint that could be used to institute such a system. I’m not saying that they are part of it but only that they display a global IT infrastructure that most likely will be to the advantage of the antichrist and the false prophet as they seek to consolidate their ‘gains’. But beyond this ride on human ingenuity, the false prophet will have supernatural powers capable of calling fire from ‘above’ and giving ‘life’ to the image of the beast. He might not only be empowered diabolically but might use corrupted arts such as magic as displayed by Pharaoh’s magicians, Jannes and Jambres in the days of the Exodus. Arts such as astrology, transcendental meditation practiced during yoga, martial arts, eastern religions among others are practices which might open up spiritual realities that are contrary to God’s word.
