Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

A message from the Angels

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth— to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
Revelation 14:6‭-‬13 NKJV

Angels appeared in succession in the skies. Their role was to deliver messages to the peoples of the earth. The first reminded the people of the earth to fear God and worship Him…to give glory to Him who made the earth, the sea and the springs. In the midst of this great delusion and deception on earth, God will still send a message of hope among the dwellers of the earth. People will be urged to turn back to God even at this critical eleventh hour moment. It’s never too late to turn to God. It doesn’t matter our state physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. God is in the business of reconciling people to Himself. A second angel also flew by chanting the words, ‘Babylon is fallen’. That ancient city of Babylon, a symbol of sin and rebellion before God will fall even though the system during that time would be driven by Babylon… Sin… The antichrist. It would seem a paradox that a system touted to be falling is strongly in place. But God’s word is true. It shall come to pass. Sin cannot outlast God’s power. It will fall. Another angel appeared with another message. A message of judgment upon those who choose to follow the beast. These verses leave no doubt that those who choose to follow the beast will do so at their own will. God will warn people through His angel about the consequences of paying allegiance to the beast. Fire and brimstone will be their destination. Hell’s fire awaits them where there’ll be tormenting with no rest in sight. The message of the Gospel is double edged: faith in Christ leads to redemption… rejecting Christ leads to perdition. Today such a message seems unpalatable to the world which wants to believe that we can live as we wish and gain all the comfort that we want at the end. Well, we have a choice. A choice between faith in Christ or faith in the antichrist. Just as Paul says, the spirit of the antichrist is at work among us even today. We can choose faith over fear…hope over hopelessness. Verse 12 speaks of the patience of the saints…their perseverance and commitment to God when all indications demand them to do otherwise. Their reward is sure. Just as in the days of the great tribulation, those who die in Christ find rest because they will have been snatched from a polluted world. Yes, they will pay for their faith with their lives but will rejoice at the feet of Christ in heaven. Today, we’re not called to necessarily die a physical death (yes there are those believers who are ready to give their lives for the faith) but we are called to die to sin. A death that results in a life of victory and honor before God. But a death that we fight for day by day as life struggles come our way. Ultimately, we’ll rejoice in His presence when that time comes and we are taken back to Him.
