Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped. Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire, and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.” So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs. Revelation 14:14-20 NKJV

The One who sat on the cloud looked like the Son of Man. He held a sickle in His hand with which He reaped the produce from the earth…the overripe produce which God had allowed to stay. This is most likely alluding to the second coming of Christ to judge the world. In the book of Matthew this portion of scripture is captured by the story of the separation of the sheep from the goats.. Christ will descend upon earth accompanied with the saints who have rested in Him. He will be wearing a crown that is significant in times of war. He will come to battle the antichrist and his hoard which will be launching an attack on the nation of Israel. He will use His symbolic sickle to harvest the grapes which will be ripe and full. They will be trodden at the wine press outside the city but wine won’t come out of them. Instead, blood will gush out upto the horse’s bridle which shall flow for 200 miles within the radius of Jerusalem. The final war at Armageddon will be bloody. Probably it might degenerate into a medieval type of conflict with soldiers resorting to armed combat shedding a tremendous amount of blood. But all in all, Christ will conquer sin. It is Christ who’ll come to fight the final war and defeat evil. His garments will be soaked in blood. He will demonstrate His mighty power in battle as stated in Isaiah 63:1-3. He will come to the battle front from Bozrah, those ancient ruins that’ll host the children of Israel during the second half reign of the antichrist. He will first redeem His chosen ones from the nation of Israel. These are the ones spoken of in the book of Matthew as the poor who were fed…the ones in prison who were visited…the naked who were clothed. Those who did good to them would enjoy eternal peace and joy. But on the other hand those who sought to harm them would be punished. Just like the fate of the antichrist, the false prophet and the devil himself. Christ will triumph and defeat the antichrist and the evil one. It doesn’t matter how subdued we may be to wicked systems. He shall triumph over them all.
