LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

The Seventh Angel

Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.

The sixth bowl had its contents scattered in the air probably a symbol of God’s wrath upon the principals of the power of the air. But at first, there was a statement from the throne of God itself…’it is done’ . The season of grace and mercy were gone and now He would demonstrate His anger and judgement in a monumental way. The Greek word for this display of anger is ‘Thymos’ …an extreme outburst of anger. Babylon will be the recipient of this judgement. More details of Babylon’s judgement would follow in chapters to come. However, several cataclysmic events would occur such as a great earthquake, a great hailstorm and division of the great city into three parts. But men instead will choose to blaspheme Him. God is long suffering. He gives us a chance to repent of our sins. However when judgement time comes, His wrath knows no bounds. Infact there’s no guarantee that we’ll repent upon experiencing His wrath if we chose not to before its display. Today is the day of salvation. Let’s turn back to Him before its too late.
