Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. Satan the great deceiver will be bound in chains and thrown into the bottomless pit with a seal at the entrance. The ‘great’ Devil will be defeated and not allowed to deceive men for a thousand years. An angel will take hold of him and subdue him. Not even an archangel like Michael or Gabriel… Just an angel will deal with him. Satan is not God’s equal. He’s His creature and He can do with him as He so chooses. A lesson to us in life when we face trials and temptations that seem hard. God is able to deal with these situations. He’s able to subdue the wicked one and deliver victory to us. The devil will be away for a thousand years during the millennial rule. Years of prosperity and growth when Christ will be in charge.
