LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

Teaching with Authority

Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught. And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Mark 1:21‭-‬22 NKJV

I have always wondered what scripture means by ‘teaching with authority’. Two things come to my mind…having a conviction in what you believe in and allowing the Spirit of God to minister to others through you. Christ though God, lived an earthly life as a man. So all that He did while on earth was through the Spirit’s enablement. When He spoke, the Spirit of God ministered to others through Him. He wasn’t just a conveyer of knowledge like the scribes but one who spoke with conviction and by the Spirit’s enablement. The Spirit of God is the One who convicts the lives and souls of men. But it begins with us believing God’s word and His message in the first place.
