Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them.
Mark 1:29-31 NKJV

Jesus Christ was a Man on a mission. As He left the synagogue, He headed to Simon’s house where his mother in law lay sick with a fever. Christ’s response to the entire scenario was unique. He just stretched His hand and lifted her after which her fever was gone. The gospel truth is that Christ heals our diseases. He is our healer and restorer. However, in our age, we can become so obsessed with the weight of disease and infirmity to the extent of doubting that Christ heals. Terminal illnesses such as Cancer and HIV AIDS have at times dampened our faith and belief in the healing ministry. And at times it seems justifiable. How come God heals some people while allowing others to succumb to disease? I’m sure there were other sick people at this time who didn’t experience healing. These are questions only God can answer. Nevertheless Christ still is in the business of healing diseases and infirmities. He does it in order for us to serve Him (verse 31b).
