LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

GIVE…

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
Mark 12:42‭-‬44 NIV

‘She gave out of her poverty’…were the words of Christ concerning the poor widow. When others displayed their wealth by dishing out much, her little counted for much more in the eyes of Christ. Giving to God while in need displays a commitment to Him like no other. I think of the lady living in an informal settlement yet sets aside her tithe and offering from her odd jobs to give to God… I think of the man who sets aside a portion from his earnings to give to God… I think of the kid who sets aside his or her pocket money to give to God. Giving sacrificially is pleasant to God. But not only that. It’s not God’s will for us to display the magnitude of our gifts for others to see. When we give in secret, He sees and rewards us openly. And that’s applicable not only in money but also in giving of our gifts in serving others
