18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Sexual sin is no worse than other sins. However what distinguishes it from others is it’s affront against the body. The apostle tells us to flee from sexual immorality implying that it’s always pursuing us especially men. Wherever we go, we will encounter temptations that lure us to sin. But just as a man who chooses to flee from fire, we are informed to flee from sexual immorality. Yes it isn’t easy but it is possible. The apostle reminds us that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. So when we defile our bodies, we corrupt the same temple we expect the Spirit of God to dwell in. We are reminded that these bodies are not our own. They were bought at a price. The price of death on the cross. Our commitment to Christ means that we shun all that’s sinful and pursue righteousness. Fleeing from sin but in pursuit of obedience. All this is possible because the Holy Spirit enables us.
