1 “Make the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim woven into them by a skilled worker. 2 All the curtains are to be the same size—twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide. 3 Join five of the curtains together, and do the same with the other five. 4 Make loops of blue material along the edge of the end curtain in one set, and do the same with the end curtain in the other set. 5 Make fifty loops on one curtain and fifty loops on the end curtain of the other set, with the loops opposite each other. 6 Then make fifty gold clasps and use them to fasten the curtains together so that the tabernacle is a unit.

The design of the tabernacle was done from ‘inside out’. The designs at play could be seen by those who were on the inside of the tabernacle as they progressed towards the outer part. Isn’t it the same way God works in us? Our transformation starts from the inside moving outwards. We are changed from within. Something else striking from this scripture is the dimensions of the curtains. They were 14 metres long meaning that they were long! Construction of the tabernacle wasn’t a small affair. It was big. It would use up unique skills from people. Skills like tailoring and fabric technology are not often associated with work in God’s house as seen here. God can use any skills we possess to glorify His name as long as we commit them to Him for use. The curtains were to be made out of fine linen…a unique fabric woven using thousands if not millions of fine linen strands. It would have taken time, skill and energy to do so. But also, the curtains were to be looped into each other in a tapestry that would bring together different fabrics into unison forming one colorful pattern. In Romans 12:5, we are implored that we have many members who’re part of the same body of Christ. Our gifts, abilities, temperaments, personalities interwoven together form a unique pattern that brings pleasure to God. Individually, we possess abilities which if brought together, make us much better.
