LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

1 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit is central for any Christian to succeed in their spiritual walk. The Holy Spirit convicts us leading us to believe in God through Christ. However at that point, we only have a measure of Him and still have to desire for an in-filling. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity who dwells inside of us. He helps us lead a victorious life on earth in the midst of trouble and turmoil all around us. The disciples here had received salvation but had not heard of the filling of the Holy Spirit. Paul laid his hands on them leading to them receiving an in filling. This manifested through speaking in different tongues. Is it possible to lead a life as a believer yet still not empowered by the Holy Spirit? The good thing is that God is willing to fill us with His Holy Spirit. Christ says in Luke 11:13 that God will fill us with the Holy Spirit only if we ask of Him. Have we asked Him to fill us with the Holy Spirit? Might our spiritual struggles emanate from a lack of power due to the absence of the Holy Spirit? Why don’t we take time right now and ask the Lord to fill us with His Holy Spirit…

Heavenly Father, I come before you acknowledging the words on Christ in Luke 11:13. I come desiring that you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Fill me oh Lord. May I be able to walk in victory before you. In Jesus name. Amen.
