LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.” 35 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude.
Matthew 15:34‭-‬36 NKJV

This happened when Christ had retreated to a region called Decapolis…a conurbunation of ten Greek cities. He had been ministering to people with all sorts of challenges, diseases and infirmities. But after sometime, He looked at them and felt pity for them. They were hungry and weak. Most likely many of them were from humble backgrounds. So Jesus asked His disciples to feed them. His disciples were astonished at this. But Christ went further to ask them how much food they had. Seven loaves and some fish…they said. Was this going to be a replica of the first feeding miracle earlier? Not really. This was different. But the gist was the same. Christ lifted up the little that was available, gave thanks and let His disciples distribute it to the masses. He gave thanks first for the little that He had. Perhaps a lesson to us who feel shortchanged. God has granted us so much more than we can think or imagine. We might think we have little. But step out of your house and walk in the streets. You’ll notice that you and I have so much more. All we need to do is to give thanks for it, dedicate it to Christ and He will multiply the effects as we are used by Him. Is it a talent? Is it money? Is it encouragement? Is it laughter? We’re all gifted with something. Lift it up, commit it to God and He shall make good use of it. Remember that the goal is not self satisfaction but ministry to others. Christ multiplied the fish and bread to feed others and not Himself. We too can do the same. Aim to ‘feed’ others and not yourself. And for sure, God will grow what you have. Peace.
