Give us this day our daily bread.

Our work supplies our daily needs. But only if it is blessed by the Lord. God Himself tells us that He shall bless the works of our hands. It is no coincidence that we can afford to put bread on the table. It is not because of our ingenuity or hard work. It is only as a result of God’s grace. He is the one who gives us the ability, know-how and skill to do work and earn from it. We must always seek Him to open doors of provision. If we leave Him out of our work, we assume that it is a net result of our effort. Yet it is God who provides us with that energy, intelligence, opportunity, market, strategy and strength to work, earn and eat. Every day when we wake up, we must remember to ask God for strength to do work. We must ask for guidance to work well. We must ask for His leading to work in a way that is equal to serving Him. We must ask for Him to show us new ways to make money and enjoy life as we give to Him. In case we aren’t employed, we must ask Him to guide us as we send our CVs or as we think of that business idea to put it into action. It is only God who can lead us to greener pastures and besides still waters. He is the one who can renew our strength day by day by enabling our hands to work thereby earning our daily bread.
