LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

…ask…seek…knock…

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:7‭-‬8 KJV

God answers prayers. He actually does. However for our prayers to be answered, our attitudes have to be good as we come before God. Our motives must be pure. Our utmost object of satisfaction should not be what we are about to receive but the giver of the gift. We have to know that for our prayers to bear fruit, we must stand up and act. Our actions need to be persistent…seek, ask, knock…we must engage God constantly and persistently. Christ talked about the parable of the stubborn woman who refused to leave the presence of the judge. Her answer came because of her persistence. Jacob, after wrestling with God, stubbornly held onto Him until he got his blessings. God has no problem with answering our prayers. The only catch is whether it is within His will and whether our motives are pure. As long as we have pure motives aligned to His will, we’ll have wonderful fellowship with Him as He answers our petitions. But how will I know God’s will? Only by tarrying in His presence, by walking in righteousness and obedience. He can communicate His will in diverse ways…through His word, through prayer, through a spouse, through friends, through daily mundane life activities. All we must do is to tune in our ears for spiritual direction. We must be attentive to the voice of the Spirit so that it is not silenced by the din and tumult of daily activity. We must walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh.
