LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

Not everyone…

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 7:21‭-‬23 KJV

The book of James warns us and in a way that shadows these words of Christ; do not just be hearers of the Word and deceive yourselves. Instead be doers of the word of God’. Nothing touches the heart of God more than someone who actively decides to obey Him. Obedience is not just a passive position we take…it involves action…intense action. Our world and society is full of people who confess Christ in their lives. However, Christ looks into our hearts to see if we truly value Him. If we do, we’ll obey Him. But if we don’t, we’ll not. This scripture is so specific that it refers to the elect as the ones who ‘do the will of My Father’. It goes on to highlight the exploits we may embark on though out of the will of God. In fact these exploits look spiritual…prophesying and casting out demons. But still, they are out of God’s will. This reminds me that I might be doing what I think is the right thing to do but probably out of God’s perfect will! What is God’s will for me now? What does He really want and expect me to do at this point in time? Who does He want me to share the gospel with? How does He expect me to relate to my neighbors and colleagues in the office? How does He expect me to treat the fellowship of brethren? What job, business venture or area of study does He desire that I pursue in line with His perfect will? The book of Romans tells us to ‘offer our BODIES as living SACRIFICES before God (SUBMISSION & OBEDIENCE) which is our act of worship’. It reminds us not to be ‘conformed to this world (COMPROMISE) but to be transformed by the RENEWAL of our minds (the WORD/PRAYER/FELLOWSHIP)’. Only then shall we ‘know the PERFECT WILL OF GOD’.
In order to know God’s will over my life, I must:

  1. Be obedient to Him
  2. Choose not to gamble with sin
  3. Desire to grow in my faith.
