Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 KJV
This is one passage of scripture that makes me sorrowful. ‘Strait or narrow is the way to heaven. Few find it. But wide is the road to destruction. Many are on it’. (paraphrased). This is the Truth we must always bear in mind. Heaven is real. Hell is also real. New age philosophy and ‘feel good’ Christianity have led us astray in this regard. In some forums or churches, the gospel is represented as a panacea for our earthly problems. The congregants are encouraged to pray and trust God for jobs, wealth, healing, spouses etc. God has a great desire to bless us materially. However, His ultimate goal is for us to end up in heaven with Him. Topics such as righteousness, holiness, fellowship, evangelism etc have taken a back seat yet they are the ones that prepare us for life after death. In a world with numerous snares, we must encourage ourselves in holiness and in the things that make us heaven bound. Otherwise, we risk falling into the wide trail open to all leading to destruction.
