Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Matthew 9:37-38 KJV
Christ speaks about laborers in the context of people who looked helpless and confused. Our mandate as followers of Christ is to bring hope to the masses. All over, there are people in need, people hurting, people who’ve lost hope, people who are looking for direction. Christ has given us a mandate to instill hope in their lives, to instill hope by bringing to them the good news. But do we do it? If so, how often? I look at myself and ask myself the same question…how do I respond to people in need? How do I take advantage of situations to present the gospel to people who’s hearts are ready to receive hope? This is a point to ponder. Many need ministry but few are available to offer it. Thank God, we have the Lord of the harvest to call upon. If we do so, He’ll send labourers including ourselves to fulfill His will.
