And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
Matthew 10:11-13 KJV
Christ teaches us about peace in all our dealings. Even as He sends His disciples on this mission, He ensured that He prepared them to be at peace with themselves and with the ones they shall encounter. He encourages them to enquire on a possible host, salutations to the host, bless the house if invited cordially and leaving in peace if not. Peace must punctuate all our actions and dealings with men. Why? Because Christ is the Prince of Peace. He’s the author and sustainer of peace. Even in the trail of life as we encounter others in the gospel journey, we shouldn’t be ignorant that at times we might be confronted. Even in our daily dealings we encounter disruptions of our peace by bad people. Christ’s charge to us however is that we be men and women of peace not only in word but in thought and deed. If our message doesn’t reach our would be recipients, our peace will. Peace to all. Shalom.
