But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.
Matthew 9:34 KJV
The Pharisees bring out an excellent truth to the surface…naysayers, critical and impossible people will exist in life no matter how good you are. The Pharisees were a unique breed. They lived lives that were driven by a lofty spiritual mindset. They demanded strict adherence from others…while they themselves practiced hypocrisy. They saw themselves as custodians of God’s laws yet treated the same people God has created with disdain. Christ came to nullify their entitlement. He came to equalize all. He came to proclaim freedom to all in captivity. This is something they hated because it would put them out of business. Their capacity to imprison people’s hearts by their self righteous thinking was gone thanks to Christ. They became bitter and developed hatred for Christ. Small wonder they called Him the Prince of devils. Isn’t that the same case when we choose to do good? Doing good doesn’t guarantee us friendship to all. But it guarantees us the presence of God, always. So let’s, continue doing good. Let’s continue using our spiritual gifts to edify others. Let’s continue to serve. Even if the busybodies and naysayers are at it.
