Christ calls us to rest. But Christ also calls us to responsibility. He beckons us … ‘come to Me all ye who labour and are heavily laden. I will give you rest’. This is a promise Christ gives us. Those of us who struggle with issues of life. After all, who doesn’t? He promises us rest from the worries of life. He promises us peace and comfort. He promises us strength and His presence through the rugged terrain. However, He also beckons us to carry His burden. His light burden. He beckons us to be ready to bear witness to Him. To be true to Him in this world which drives us against Him. He calls us to responsibility. Our actions, our thoughts, our motives our attitudes must reflect the true nature of Christ. We surrender our heavy burdens of suffering to Him and take up His light burden of obedience to Him.
