And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

Christ was faced with a lame man who needed healing. He was however faced by a critical mob which was waiting for Him to commit the unavoidable ‘mistake’. The ‘mistake’ of healing him. He was a Man desiring to do good yet in a situation that would not honor the good He did but sought to vilify Him for the timing of His actions. And indeed, they could back it up with scripture. It sometimes takes sacrifice to do good. Not because it is wrong to do it but because people will vilify you whether you do it or not. This is the kind of world we live in. A world critical of those who choose the right path and chooses to question the timing, motive and attitudes of their deeds instead of praising the deed itself. We are however encouraged to continue doing good irrespective of these kind of challenges.
