Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
Matthew 12:13-14 KJV
It doesn’t get better does it? Instead the plot keeps on thickening and thickening. Christ does what the Pharisees deem unthinkable… He heals the lame man on Sabbath. Picture this… A man in need presents himself to you for help. You’re in a position to help. Yet the legalists and the spiritual police are standing on guard around you ready to pounce at any act of goodness towards this poor man. This is what we’ll face not only on a daily basis but constantly and assuredly as believers. Our faith in Christ holds no water in the eyes of those who militantly choose to disbelieve Him. Our actions in service to the poor have no weight in the eyes of the opposers of the gospel. But the gospel must be preached. The good news must be proclaimed whether the naysayers and busybodies issue threats and ultimatums or not. Whether they plot and scheme for our downfall of not. Good must always prevail against legalistic evil.
