Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

Withdraw…

But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
Matthew 12:15 KJV

Christ’s reaction after the threats from the Pharisees is a move we must seek to ponder over and over again. Sometimes, withdrawal from confrontation doesn’t mean accepting defeat…it may just mean that the time is not yet right for a response. Confrontation is natural when we feel slighted in the midst of doing good. All that Christ did was good. Yet He faced opposition and in this case, a ploy to kill Him. Even though He’s God, He chose not to confront but to retreat. Why? He had bigger priorities ahead of Him. He had people to serve, people to heal, the gospel to preach. We must learn to choose our battles. We must learn to put on hold a response to a provocative attack even when our element demands that we do so. In this age of social media, I often struggle to hold back responses to comments I deem as provocative. It is necessary that I ask God to lead me to choose my battles wisely. To know that my responses might lead to my unnecessary downfall, others will lead to my character assassination, misrepresentation, fall from the faith while still others may glorify God. But may God lead us to walk the straight narrow path in obedience to Him.
