All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

It’s a mystery why Christ used parables so much in His teachings. However, the reason might just exist in this passage…to utter things that have been kept secret from the beginning of the world. The truth Christ spoke of was a mystery. A mystery known only to God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. This truth was being communicated to fallible humans with finite understanding. Limited humans with no ability to fully understand God. Within these parables lay condensed messages about the kingdom of God. These parables were laden with godly wisdom. Invaluable wealth of instructions from heaven. However, their inner message was hidden from the masses in order for the prophesy of Isaiah to be true.
