Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

SPEAKING IN PARABLES…

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Matthew 13:10‭-‬12 KJV

Heavenly mysteries are revealed to those who hunger and thirst for heavenly knowledge. Here Christ’s disciples were bothered by Christ using parables. They probably thought that the people might be put off by trying to understand the inner meaning. Christ however surprised them by telling them that the mysteries of the Kingdom of God are revealed to them but not to the multitude. Them who have some, more will be given. Them who have none, even the little they have will be taken from them. More often than not this figure of speech is used in reference to material wealth. In this case, Christ employs it in spiritual wealth. If we desire to grow deeper in the knowledge and love of God, God shall honor our desires by revealing the inner mysteries of heaven. Many times, when we engage God’s word, we do it in a rush. We don’t dig deeper. We don’t seek more. Christ was probably trying to communicate that the mysteries of the Kingdom are for those who desire to know and discover.
