Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Matthew 13:45-46 KJV
Christ continues communicating the value of salvation or the Kingdom of heaven. He equates it to a trader who sells all he has in order to purchase a precious pearl he has found. The crux of the matter is what place of priority does salvation have in our lives? Is our faith so central to us that given options to choose we would rather choose it over other benefits? Is it so useful to us that we can’t afford to lose it to anything? Such are the struggles I face on a daily basis. Struggles involving compromise. Struggles involving succumbing to sin. Do I place such a sterling premium on my faith in Christ that I can care less about losing ill-gotten worldly gain for its sake? Such is the message Christ is communicating to us. All that I have, have had, will ever have can’t match the value of the salvation. It’s value surpasses all things.
