For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Matthew 16:27 KJV

This scripture highlights of Christ the Great Judge. In previous texts, Christ beckons us who decide to believe in Him to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Him. After denying ourselves worldly pleasures, after agreeing to our share of suffering as Christians, great work lies ahead. The work of following Christ’s example. His example is a life of good works. Scripture says that He did good wherever He went. He calls on us to do good wherever we go. This is the yardstick He’ll use to judge us in heaven…works. To see whether we follow His example we just need to look at our lives and see if it mirrors His…do we exercise compassion on others?do we freely share the good news?do we freely minister to others in need…especially the ones we don’t know?do we receive people with open arms? Our works in Christ will count. Let’s not be weary of going good. For it does count before God.
