Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matthew 17:21 KJV
Christ points us towards a Christian discipline often neglected but can be the missing link to answered prayer…fasting. Praying while fasting is a moment when we become vulnerable to God. We dissociate ourselves from any food and focus our attention, mind and energy to prayer and the word of God. It’s a time when God speaks to us. It’s a time when He comes through for us according to or not so according to our expectations but in accordance to His perfect will. True prayer and fasting is true submission to God. It’s a moment of self reflection and solitude before God. It’s one of those perfect moments when God can speak to us about situations in our lives and what to do about them. It’s a moment when we can get answers and direction from God. In difficult times, God is able to empower us with His grace and His Spirit to enable us to walk victoriously. Fasting empowers a believer.
