And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Matthew 18:17 KJV
Christ alludes to the final step to take in the event that the offender rejects the words of third parties. To tell it to the church failure to which he or she should be let lose from God’s people. Christ is communicating a very important aspect of a Christian life…We must be people who help reconcile others and must also be willing to be reconciled to others. Paul in one of his epistles writes that we have been given this ministry of reconciliation. Helping to reconciling the world to God through Christ. If Christ went out of His way to create an opportunity for us to be reconciled to Him, how much more does He expect us to take the initiative to reconcile with others? How much more does He expect us to go out of our way while reconciling to others? Here, it’s clear… If we don’t desire to reconcile and forgive, we’ve no business in the house of God and by extension, in His kingdom.
