LIFE SCRIPTS

Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

Jesus left and was going away from the Temple when his disciples came to him to call his attention to its buildings. “Yes,” he said, “you may well look at all these. I tell you this: not a single stone here will be left in its place; every one of them will be thrown down.”
Matthew 24:1‭-‬2 GNBDC

Christ spoke about the destruction of the temple. The temple had been destroyed before but also had been restored. Yet Christ was telling His disciples that not a single stone in its structure shall remain. But more like importantly, He was speaking to our hearts. Even though the temple stood in stature and magnificence, one day, it was going to come down. What matters is not the place we worship but the God we exalt in our hearts. Christ was echoing the message He gave the woman at the well. That they who worship God truthfully are those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. The church of Christ will stand irrespective of its location. It might be centered in a dungeon, a room, a house, a small church or a megachurch complex. It will stand not because of the structure but because the hearts of its people are turned towards God.
Christ also seemed to be figurative about Himself. He at times refered Himself as the temple. Later on He would state that the Temple (Him) would be destroyed and rebuilt in three days. This was symbolic to His coming death and ressurection.
