“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Perhaps the sinners did seek God. But they didn’t seek Him where He can be found. They instead sought Him where they thought He could be found. The word of God tells us that them who love God act justly and love mercy. There is no way that we can call ourselves chosen of God yet walk by injustices and show no concern. In no way can we state we love God yet we cannot spare a moment and show mercy to those in need. God has placed numerous opportunities in this world today for us to demonstrate the compassion Christ had on us. We have thousands of opportunities to serve both young and old. We have opportunities to give. We have opportunities to show compassion. All these exist in order for our love for God to be made complete. In fact the same people we might just be despising as we walk past them might just be the opportunities God has placed our way for His compassion in us to be actualized. The same friends and family we bear a grudge against might just be the people God will use to teach us forgiveness. He will teach us to love and care for them compassionately. The same people we despise because of our social, educational or any other differences might just be the aces God will use to lift us from one level of faith to the other. They might just be the people God will use to draw out virtue from us and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit. They might just be our ticket to eternal life!!! May we be sensitive and dependent on God that we may be compassionate to others.
