Again Jesus left them, went away, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then he returned to the disciples and said, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look! The hour has come for the Son of Man to be handed over to the power of sinners. Get up, let us go. Look, here is the man who is betraying me!”
Matthew 26:44-46 GNBDC
After pleading with God in the place of prayer, the hour came when events needed to take shape. The darkest hour had come. The betrayer together with his crowd were making their way towards Christ to arrest Him. This was not a time to continue in prayer…it was a time to wake up and be alert. It was not a time to seek a change of circumstances… It was a time to walk through the circumstances in accordance to God’s will. He would provide grace and strength. The first dynamo was about to be tipped triggering the fall of the rest. Christ’s arrest was imminent. He needed to walk upright and meet the tribulation ahead of Him confidently. He had boldly approached the throne of grace to seek grace and find mercy and help in time of need. The time of need was here and God’s grace was abundant. The grace of God was guiding Him. He would triumph at the end. Just as Christ, after we tarry in the place of prayer, the hour shall come when we shall walk out into the real world to confront or be confronted with real issues. The confidence we have is that if the impediments we seek to be removed still remain, God’s grace is still sufficient to guide us through the thick and thin as life happens.
