So they brought Christ to the ‘Place of the skull’. Golgotha. There they tried offering Him wine mixed with a bitter substance but He would not drink it after tasting it. Why wouldn’t Christ just refuse to drink it? He knew after all that it was bitter because He’s God? It’s a mystery. However, this was the place where the bitterness of sin would bite. This was the place where He would make payment for the debts of all. For our sins. It was a bitter experience. However, it was bitter with a sweet ending. The redemption of mankind.
