The next day, which was a Sabbath, the chief priests and the Pharisees met with Pilate and said, “Sir, we remember that while that liar was still alive he said, ‘I will be raised to life three days later.’ Give orders, then, for his tomb to be carefully guarded until the third day, so that his disciples will not be able to go and steal the body, and then tell the people that he was raised from death. This last lie would be even worse than the first one.” “Take a guard,” Pilate told them; “go and make the tomb as secure as you can.” So they left and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and leaving the guard on watch.

There are many disputes raised by people about the truth of the ressurection of Christ. However, one of the most convincing account in this regard is captured in these passages. The chief priests convinced Pilate to send guards to watch over the tomb so that the disciples do not steal Christ’s body and feign a resurrection. How convenient. The truth of God would not only be evident but convincingly evident!!! The supernatural truth about Christ’s defeat of death through His resurrection from the cross will be laid bare before the eyes of the same people who doubted it the most!!! God has a way of letting those with wicked intentions set snares for themselves. Their wicked intentions have a way of having a reversal effect on them. When they intend harm on others, God has a way of using the same traps they’ve laid to teach them a lesson or two. It reminds me not to fret because of the schemes and works of those who have ill intentions. As long as we walk in the will of God, all things work for them that love the Lord.
