Our life's patterns transformed by God's grand story

While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him a second time: “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
Jeremiah 33:1‭-‬3 NIV

Isn’t it amazing how circumstances don’t limit God when He chooses to minister to us? Jeremiah was confined in a courtyard. Technically, he was a prisoner. Yet God’s word came to him in a very unique way. God beckons His people to call to Him and He shall answer them and show them great and unsearchable things. Now just imagine that for a moment…God is making an appeal to all of us. He’s seeking us instead of us seeking Him. He’s reaching out to us encouraging us to seek Him in prayer and supplication. But not only that. He’s promising to show us great and unsearchable things. Those things we see as too mysterious and out of the ordinary. Those things that look daunting and out of the world. Prayer is not only a platform for us to use in seeking God but also which God uses to speak to us. As we call unto Him, He responds and unveils those things that no one else knows about…those things that are too great for the human mind to comprehend. They might be things related to our families, our jobs, our children, our nation, our neighbourhood…things that don’t appear obvious but are revealed to us by an all knowing God…a God who transcends time and space. I remember the story of Gideon who trembled at the thought of facing Midian and how God revealed to him how He would defeat them…I think of Joshua and Caleb who despite the odds, returned a favourable report because of the victory they saw the Lord would give them. When we earnestly seek God in prayer, He allows us into His mind. He allows us to see His plans and will amidst our circumstances.
