Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Psalms 37:7 NIV
Stillness is a difficult yet a necessary posture for any believer. It’s amazing how much we get troubled when we see people doing wrong succeed around us. At times we’re tempted to give up on doing the good we desire to continue doing. Our confidence is in seeing ourselves succeed while doing right yet others who are wrongdoers seem to be more successful. Scripture reminds us to be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him. The Lord by His nature is patient. As children of God, our attitudes before Him should be tampered with patience. Patience before God shows that we have faith in Him. It is a demonstration that even though things seem not to be going as expected we shall still hold onto trust in Him. Patience separates people of God from others. Faith in God dictates that we exercise patience because we have submitted fully to His will. So even though we desire quick answers which seem elusive, we exercise patience in God because we are have faith that He’ll respond in His time.
